Yoga just, doesn't mean twisting and turning the body. There are many dimensions of yoga. There are infinite asanas in yoga, there are nearly infinite methods to it, there are many types of pranayama. In a way, yoga is the art of living life.
There is also a dimension of Yoga which is related to Yogic Kriyas. In which special care is taken to clean the body. In which, the body is cleaned from outside to inside. There are many such Kriyas in Yoga and Gandusha Kriya is one of them. Many people today know Gandush kriya as Oil Pulling.
Today, we do not know how much pollution goes into our body throughout the day and do not know what we eat, which gets stuck somewhere in the intestines of our body and due to this many diseases are born. Therefore, it is as important for us to clean the body from inside as it is important to clean the body from outside. We take bath every morning and the outside body gets cleaned but we never think about the inside. But in yoga special care is taken in this respect. It in today's language is called the removal of toxins from the body.
Oil Pulling - What is the method of performing the Gandush Kriya.
It is very easy. All you have to do is to take a spoon of any oil in your mouth that can be mustard oil, sesame oil or coconut oil and keep the mouth closed and keep stirring the oil in the mouth up and down, left and right or in any direction for nearly 15-20 minutes or as per your choice. After that, you spit it out as the toxins get collected in it.
This is a way of pulling out the accumulated dirt or toxins in the body that is very easy and can be done even everyday. Just like we brush our teeth everyday, we can do this too. If we can include it in our daily routine.
When to do Gandush Kriya?
As much as possible, Gandush Kriya should be done every morning on an empty stomach and can be done for about 15-20 minutes. You can also do some other work along with it like walking, reading a book, reading a newspaper or anything you like or you may just listen to our favorite music.
Benefits of Gandush Kriya (Oil Pulling)
The first advantage is that the toxins and dirt accumulated in the body are removed and due to this the digestion process improves. Gandush kriya is very good for teeth and it may help in eliminating bad breath. As per Ayurveda, Oil Pulling cures many diseases related to Kapha Dosha. It also strengthen the gums and teeth and can also be beneficial for Jawline.
Could there be any damage?
Anyway, there was no major damage. But it is possible that by putting oil in the mouth, one may feel nausea or it may happen that you accidentally drink the oil. This should not be done at all as it can cause stomach upset and pain in the throat or stomach as it is full of toxins.
Which oil is best for kriya?
Although all the oils can be good, but that oil is the best, which according to Ayurveda is of cold nature. In such a situation, coconut oil is considered to be the best for this, which can be easily found in any house, which we use every day.
